Presidential Reflections

Dear Fellow Workers,

The Creation account given in the Bible (Genesis 1:1-31) tells of the order of events at the beginning of things. It is confirmed many times by science. This is so, whether we believe that it happened during six, literal, 24-hourdays and nights, or six epochs of time. Our God did this in a display of His Glory. Yes, he wants what he did to be known and recorded.

My view is that of an old universe. As I piece it together, our Maker, created elements that formed atoms, molecules, gasses andphysical matter that display wonderful beauty. He used angels as His workers, and this was done so very well.

A single angel Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12,13) took pride in his role in great accomplishments and wanted to have a more equal share of the credit. As a leading angel,he got other angels to join his challenge and rebellion. God wouldn't have it.

The earth was to be a dwelling place and support system for mankind, as the noblest creation. Our Lord's work and play seems to content Himself by doing great things, despite the competitive efforts of His enemy, now called Satan.

Biblical history then records a six-thousand-year history of the romance between God and this tiny people. Abraham's children were selected for the purpose of showing God's glory and denigration of the rebellious angels.

Slowly, slowly, mankind begins to catch on; "not by might, nor by power, but by God's Spirit... (Zechariah 4:6).This mysterious struggle centered mostly about the Jewish People. It seems to be a tale of three steps forward and then two back. By Grace forward motion has resulted. Their faith brought glory to their spiritual Father.

The overall pattern of this slow unfolding process isfor God to prevail. Inserting ourselves personally into this progression, we could conclude we, too, were created for this overall purpose, even in the small details of life.

Ah Ha!So, this is why I was created, i.e. to bringmore glorification to my Maker. Accepting this model makes our entire experience make sense. Our individual lives, in detail, are meant to enhance our Lord's achievement.

Healings are a good example of our Lord being glorified. Notice that some healings didn't happen until the people put forth their faith into action. A man with a shriveled hand had to stretch it out before it was restored. (Matthew 12:9-13). Another man had to go wash some mud off before his eyesight was restored (John 9:1-7). These people put their faith into action and then they were healed. In The New Covenant, there are over 100instances where Yesua magnifies the greatness of His Father.

Moreover, our Creator shows His greatness in many ways in our lives. For example, we can see the life of Job as instructive. He handles his severe losses with grace and this shows loyalty to his Providential King. Later, Job resigns himself to his adversity and that too exhibits loyalty. Finally, Job is delivered and rewarded (Job 42:10). Notice, both in his suffering and deliverance God's greatness is magnified.

This is applicable in our life situations. Whether suffering nobly or being delivered, our role is to be a tribute to God's greatness. Sometimes that's not so easy to remember. Nevertheless, glory is central motive of God. It must be ours also.
